Trekking in the Dominican Republic

When we were traveling in the Dominican Republic, we went trekking to see the 27 waterfalls in Damajagua. It was an amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone who is passionate about nature.

The trails take you through humid rainforests, with gushing rivers and streams, and velvety waterfalls. Trekking to see the 27 waterfalls at Damajagua is a lot of fun as you get to see a lot of native plants and wildlife along the way. Trekkers continue after a glimpse of the awe-inspiring “The Virgin” falls, feeling blessed. Wearing life jackets and helmets, trekkers can slide down 20-feet waterfalls into pools of water below like the one in “La Tinajita”. We felt that Mother Nature must have been in a playful mood when she created Damajagua and put in natural water slides for her children to enjoy the cool waters. The climb up and the slide down to “the Corkscrew” had everyone in the group grinning from ear-to-ear. T.O.Y.S Fall is certainly no child’s play, and the force of the water could test the strength of the knots on your swimwear.

For all the trouble of trekking up, you get a massage from Mama Nature with a waterfall from the domed roof of the Cave waterfall. Crystal, the 8th waterfall offers a water slide and a diving spot. Blow warm and blow cold in the next waterfall cave where the warm water at the bottom soothes your feet while the cold water falling from the top refreshes you. After Flor’s Fall, trekkers reach the Jaiba Pool where one can see crabs You can enjoy swinging over the Hammock just as Tarzan must have done, and then go further up to see Taino falls. Catch your breath and stop to enjoy the view before jumping into the Natural Pool falls for a quick soak. The Last One is so narrow it makes you wonder how The Rio Damajagua could emerge from here, but it does.

I would say, the beauty of Damajagua has to been to be believed.
